Yu Manabe, born in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan on
March 11, 1980.
At a young age, he was passionate about music, listening to tunes from televisions,
radios, and anything that will give off rhythm.
He started with violin as his first instrument at the age of 7. It isn't
until his Junior High years, where he reached his earnest stage of playing
the violin.
In 1995, he entered Music High School, which was affiliated with the Tokyo
National University of Fine Arts and Music. In 1998, he was enrolled into Tokyo
National University of Fine Arts and Music and started studio work in that
same year.He graduated from the University
in 2002 with top honors.
After graduating from the university, he worked as a soloist in Tokyo Philharmonic
and Tokyo National University of Fine Art & Music Orchstra, and performed
as a guest concert master for Sendai Philharmonic and Kanagawa Philharmonic.
He has performed on television for NHK company. He has also performed and recorded
live dvds with Bon Jovi, Live Image, and Hiromi Iwasaki. Performed with Aun,
Sonin, Eikichi Yazawa. Recorded for Satoko, Ishimine. As well as performed
and recorded with Boa, Aiko, Kanon, Yuji Besyo, Keizo, Nakanishi, Kyogo Kawaguchi.
In April 2005, he co-founded a group called ANOVIO with Shigeru Morishita,
a pianist, and have performed across Japan and in NY. Creating the first album
called "ENERGY" (released in April 2006). And he is
also involved in a duo band called SNAKE, with Tomofumi Maruyama, a cellist,
creating new world music. They have creating two albums, "SNAKE" (released
in April 2005 from bootrecord) and "SNAKE DEUX" (released in
April 2006 from bootrecord). On top of SNAKE, he is also in NAMARA, a group
with Yoshihiko Ishizaka (on piano) and Masashi Kimura (on bass), playing and
challenging all genres of
music.
